Her birthday is on March 29, 1985, in Roswell New Mexico. Her birth name is Gerina Mendoza. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico to Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. Stevenson is American and comes from a Mexican-American background. Her passion for sports was born as a kid. Gerina took up golf in her first game at the age of fifteen. Gerina finished her high-school education through Goddard High School. As a high school student, Gerina won in the New Mexico golf state tournament. She was a volleyball player and also competed in state competitions. She began attending at the University of Texas. She won all of the events she took part in throughout her senior year. In her undergraduate year, she received Conference USA's individual player of year, as well as UTEP's Female Athletic of the Year.
